Cardboard Nautical Flags

This week I have been working on a series of cardboard pieces derived from nautical flags motifs. Translating the designs to cardboard transforms them into small minimalist collages. Hope to make about twenty. The overall dimensions are 20 x 28 inches - materials: recycled cardboard, india ink, watercolor paper.

Travel Sketchbook

I did not get much work done on my recent trip to Las Vegas, San Diego and Palm Springs except for a few drawings in my sketchbook. Trapped on a plane for three hours is a good time to do a little drawing.

Looking Up In Las Vegas

I have just returned from a weeks travel. My journey began and ended in Las Vegas where my dear friend Steve is ensconced, working as a waiter. I will admit I had trouble wrapping my mind around the place, and artistically it was impossible to grasp. The scale of the place is unimaginable. You see it on TV or in photographs and you cannot grasp how immense these structures are. The street is such chaos and there is no urban plan to speak of. So I began looking upwards and most of my photo reflect that perspective.
