Chicago Destroys Another Architectural Landmark - And A Neighborhood!

Chicago continues to destroy historic buildings and architectural spaces. A few panoramic photos from outside of Wrigley Field at the corner of Waveland and Kenmore Avenues. Compare the recent photograph below of the ongoing construction to panoramas I made in the early 2000s at the same intersection. The Cub organization is reconfiguring the bleachers and adding an electronic scoreboard. They have destroy any connection to the neighborhood and wiped out what was a clever solution to limited expansion, the rooftop decks.

What used to be a stadium well integrated in to the urban fabric will now be a self contained revenue generator for the Ricketts family. They might as well move it to the suburbs, parking would be simpler. Shame on Chicago, shame on the Cubs.

Grid Variations

I work on the computer in Photoshop to explore variations in the grids I draw - Easy, fast and intuitive. I  don't over-think, and edit after the fact. The possibilities are endless, but I try not to be daunted by that fact. Many of these will never be drawn on paper , but engaging as a series.
