I continue to make drawings on the 12 x 12 inch panels. They reflect the way my mind is working this month. Small ideas that may coalesce into something meaningful. I am enjoying it.

Variations on a Theme

A few of the gray panels I made last fall needed a little touching up, so I've taken this opportunity to revisit some of the concepts about these pieces. I consider the panels modular, that is movable and interchangeable. In a slightly embarrassing way they resemble carpet tiles and their endless variations. These panel by contrast are all hand made and each unique. At this point there are eight panels, and I do move them around all the time to explore the varied geometries.

Some variations on the panels created in Photoshop. These do not exist in reality, but suggest where the project could go.

This Weekend

I have six painted  12x12 inch panels in gray with a diagonal line running through them. I was continually rearranging them until I decided to do a few explorations in Photoshop. A faster way to generate configurations before I make additional panels. I cannot decide which arrangement makes sense.

And I have donated my "Pink Egg Carton Tower" to Ferrer Foundation. There was an event on Thursday at Norcross and Scott, and the tower is in the store for sale.  And finally, I'm working on a large commission this weekend. Four Drawings from my "City" series. Three days in I'm somewhere near the half way point, still fine tuning the overall scope. I kept count today and I drew 61'buildings'. Those are new Michelle Peterson Albandoz pieces above my drawings.

The Week After An Opening - A Commission and a Few Panels

I'm still coming down off my show and opening reception in Michigan. So I took it a little easy this week. But I did have a commission, and the recent work on panels was so well received in Michigan, I made a few more.

Pictured is the commission, a large grid with three circles within it. It is large, something like 52" x 30" and the circles are made by varying the line weight.

And then the latest installment of the panels with various black and white graphic patterns on them. Studies really, they come quickly and the iterations seem endless. The panels are modular and I move them around continually - there hardly seems to be a bad arrangement. Pictured are four 12" x 12" and four 12" x 16" panels.
